Ombudsman Natalie James said the website helps people of culturally diverse backgrounds to understand workplace rights and obligations.

“We want to ensure that new arrivals who are interested in starting businesses in Australia have easy access to the information they need to comply with workplace laws.

“We are here to help all employers and employees in Australia to understand their workplace rights and obligations – regardless of which language they speak.”

The new website will also reduce the instances of employee exploitation.

For example, the scourge of wage theft from migrant workers.

Resources ‘very effective’

Miles Heffernan from IR Claims praised Fair Work for offering a “very effective” website.

“Anything that helps protect workers from wage theft, in addition to other forms of exploitation is a good thing,” he said.

“There is no excuse for wage theft, or not paying workers their proper wages and also their entitlements.”
