This Politician Thinks Her $200,000 Salary Is ‘not A Lot Of Money’

This politician thinks her $200,000 salary is ‘not a lot of money’

This politician thinks her $200,000 taxpayer-funded annual salary is ‘not a lot of money’.

Meanwhile, Senator Lucy Gichuhi has had her snout in the taxpayer trough, spending taxpayers’ money to fly friends to a private birthday party.

Despite this, the greedy tone-deaf politician complained to an interviewer on Kenyan TV that she is not paid enough money.

“My salary here it is on the website, I don’t look at it because it comes to the bank, but it’s not a lot of money by the way.

“Politicians, and I mean Australian politicians, work so hard, 24/7 – nobody can compensate them for the work they do.”

The interviewer then asks her again what her salary is.

“Two hundred thousand Australian dollars – in a whole year, that’s not a lot of money,” she replied.

The current average Australian yearly wage is $60,892.

Politician finds it difficult to find ‘house girls’

During the interview Senator Gichuhi, who is from Kenya, also complained she found it difficult to find “house girls” to help with domestic duties.

She also lamented that her husband is struggling to adjust to helping out around the house.

“There are no house girls, for your information,” she told the program.

“Without house girls, it was such a challenge but I learned and I learned very quickly.”

Social media backlash

Social media went into meltdown, as Senator Gichuhi went into hiding.

Other questionable spending

The Senator’s extraordinary comments about her “lowly” wage come after she claimed $2,139 in travel entitlements for two family members to travel from Darwin to Adelaide for her birthday party.

She has promised to repay that money.

Now, there are questions about $12,000 she spent on trips to Sydney over the past 14-months which did not relate to her work as a Senator.

Seriously out of touch

Miles Heffernan, Director of Litigation at Industrial Relations Claims, called Ms Gichuhi seriously out of touch.

“This woman has got to be joking,” he said.

“She receives $200 grand from the taxpayer, and is also provided with a car and a driver and a phone.

She also receives a living away from home allowance for every night she stays in Canberra, which is more than someone on Newstart gets in a week.

“Not to mention her extremely generous super, and she has the temerity to cry poor on Kenyan television – give me a break.

“Australians are right to feel angry about her attitude.

“It’s funny, the Liberals love to demonise people on welfare, however, the biggest bludgers sucking off the taxpayer always seem to be Liberal politicians.

“For example, Senator Gichuhi and Bronwyn Bishop.”
